In Memory . . .

Last year, the City of Port Isabel and the Museums of Port Isabel lost some important individuals who supported the City and the Museums with their dedication and generousity. One of them, Marie Dixon, was a long time resident of Port Isabel and supporter of the Museums. She promoted events surrounding the museum and to her credit made our first annual Lighthouse Market Day Celebration a success with her expertise in marketing.

Two city employees also left us, Jesse Luna, EMS Director and Bob Harris, Fire Marshall. Jesse and his team were very helpful with our special events. Bob and his team had been hanging Christmas lights on the lighthouse for the past 20 years. A memorial garden was established on the grounds of the Museums in memory of all our volunteers and supporters who have passed away.
September 11th Vigil . . .
On Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 p.m., on the grounds of the Lighthouse, the City of Port Isabel and Laguna Madre Museum Foundation will present a vigil in memory of those victims of September 11th and 15th, 2001. A prayer, song, candles and moment of silence will pay tribute to those lost in these tragedies. The lighthouse will remain open until 9 p.m. that evening. For more information, call (956) 943-7602.
